Mechanical Seals
A mechanical seal is a very effective device. Every centrifugal pump must accommodate a spinning shaft while mechanically maintaining fluid or gas contained in the “wet end” of the pump. Mechanical seals consists primarily of a rotary seal face with a driving mechanism which rotates at the same speed as the pump shaft, a stationary seal face which mates with the rotary and is retained using a gland or in some pump models an integral stuffing box cover, a tension assembly (utillizing springs or a metal bellows) keeps the rotary face firmly positioned against the stationary face preventing, excluding, and containing contamination and leakage, both when the pump is not in operation and when the pump shaft is rotating. Static sealing gaskets, orings or elastomeric bellows are strategically located to complete the seal assembly.
Type 502
The Type 502 mechanical seal is one of the best-performing rubber bellows seals available. It is suitable for general service and provides excellent performance in a wide range of hot water and mild chemical duties. It is specifically designed for confined spaces and limited gland lengths.
Type 21DIN
The Type 21, a general purpose seal, has become an industry standard with OEM designers. Made of stainless steel, it provides a service range well beyond that which is possible with comparably priced seals of other metallurgical construction. Complies with DIN 24960

Type EA560
The EA560 is self-adjusting to shaft misalignments and deflections because of the loosely inserted seal face as well as the ability of the bellows to stretch and tighten. The length of the contact area of the bellows with the shaft is an optimum compromise between ease of assembly (less friction) and sufficient adhesive force for torque transmission. Additionally the seal fulfills very specific leakage requirements.
Type EA560D
The EA560D is double seal that is self-adjusting to shaft misalignments and deflections because of the loosely inserted seal face as well as the ability of the bellows to stretch and tighten. The length of the contact area of the bellows with the shaft is an optimum compromise between ease of assembly (less friction) and sufficient adhesive force for torque transmission. Additionally the seal fulfills very specific leakage requirements.
Type M32 & M37
For plain shafts, these seal features include:
• Single seal
• Unbalanced
• Rotating conical spring
• Dependent on direction of rotation
•Universal application opportunities
• Insensitive to low solids content
• No damage of the shaft by set
screws
•Large choice of materials
• Short installation lengths possible
(G16)
•Variants with shrink-fitted seal face
available
Type MG1, 12 & 13
The Burgmann style MG1 mechanical seal is ideal for plain shafts:
- Single and dual seal
- Elastomer rotating bellows
- Unbalanced
- Independent of direction of rotation
- No torsion on bellows
Type 58U & 59U
Elastomer O-ring Seal
A DIN seal for general low- to medium-pressure duties in the processing, refinery and petrochemical industries. Alternative seat designs and material options are available to suit product and operating conditions of applications. Typical applications include oils, solvents, water and refrigerants, in addition to a multitude of chemical solutions.
Type JC2100
Designed for demanding applications, the Type 2100 mechanical seal is a compact, unitized, single-spring elastomer bellows seal that offers maximum durability and performance.
Ideal for use in centrifugal, rotary and turbine pumps, compressors, chillers and other rotary equipment
The Type 2100 is often found in water-based applications, such as wastewater treatment, potable water, HVAC, pool and spa and other general applications.
Type M7N
• For plain shafts
• Single seal
• Unbalanced
• Super-Sinus-spring or multiple springs rotating
• Independent of direction of rotation
• Pumping screw for media with higher viscosity (M7..F)
• Variant with PTFE secondary seals for high chemical resistance (M78N)
• Universal application opportunities
• Extended selection of materials
• Insensitive to low solids contents
• Flexibility in torque transmissions
• Self cleaning effect
• Short installation length possible
Type T80 & T87
These are designed around O Ring pusher technology. They feature wave spring arrangements and short length working lengths.
These seals can be installed internally or externally and are most commonly used on rotary lobe pumps.
Type R3
This is a particularly economic mechanical seal, highly valuable and with interchangeable components.
The basic pairing Ceramic-Carbon provides TYPE 3 with a vast field of applications also with dirty liquids.
Its metallic parts are in stainless steel and the gaskets may be in various kinds of elastomer, which again widens the range of possible applications. It is produced in large amounts for the most usual shaft diameters, from 10 to 50 mm.
Pump manufacturers as well as installers and users appreciate its technical and construction features and its vast field of applications.
Type U3
These are similar in design to the Roten 3 but with differing seat dimensions compared to the Roten 3.

Type T6
This compact, unitized, single-spring, elastomer bellows mechanical seal is designed for use in small centrifugal water pumps, deep- and shallow-well jet pumps, pool and spa pumps and wastewater pumps.
Type T68U
Popular small seal for common domestic pumps such as spa pumps, pool pumps etc.
This seal is very similar to standard 3/4″ type 6 seals but is slightly shorter.
Type 55C Cyclam
The bellows is compressed onto the shaft pre-venting movement, and any premature wear of the bellows. Self aligning by design, the seal will compensate for bearing play, or slight geometric defects of the system.
